I just wanted to share a small note about my experience adopting.

I have not had a dog for 3 years now since putting my cookie down. I did not know if I was ready yet but Guiseppe made this entire experience amazing.

While it can be very stressful not only with the animals and the day to day, I can’t imagine what it’s like with all the people that come in and don’t adopt. I was not sure about it but walking around the block with him and Burt and just seeing the demeanor of his handling, I just knew I was not getting a “crazy shelter dog”.

I’ve been around dogs my whole life but this experience really changed my mind on what it’s like to adopt a rescue a dog. He made everything so easy to digest while still being able to seal the deal. As a dog lover and new dad I’m so happy I met this gentleman and he did an amazing job guiding me through.

I rescued a baby pigeon who was going to hurt herself from the tracks at park side in Brooklyn. She’s so sweet I spoke to her told her what I was going to do and to let me get her…she walked towards me and I took off my T-shirt and she let me get her without a fight. Took the hour long train ride and was greeted by the amazing Lady Carrie. She’s a breath of fresh air, her smile is so nurturing, and she really loves what she does. There was a lovely dark caramel complexion lady with glasses super amazing as well. Unfortunately 311 told me to bring the baby here; she’s just a baby bird learning to fly. She said for me to bring her back and release her but I told her I couldn’t I could not be responsible if something happened to her so if they would be so kind as to do it for me. She obliged. I’m very proud of that little bird she is named Infanta María. Everyone that works here is super special. Instead of funding ridiculous things or pulling funding from libraries; this establishment needs food to feed the animals.

Bella was a totally different cat once I let her out of her carrier. She’s super sweet and friendly. She can’t get enough cuddles and head bumps. Not afraid of strangers. Investigates the room quickly and thorough.

I had a great experiencing adopting my dog from ACC! I couldn’t be happier since getting my 2 yo, Salamander. She was at the shelter for 110 days and had bite history but couldn’t be a sweeter girl now. The adoption process was easy and you can tell the workers care deeply about the animals!!

The shelter seemed to be at 120%+ capacity. They need you to adopt!!!

Absolutely a cherish to have this service in our community as my injured dog was found wandering on our block n we brought it to the center with no problem they took the dog n did it's best to take care if the injured dog but his infection got the better of the dog. But at least it passed away with dignity. I named him choose one

First time adopting…
Me and my partner were looking for a companion for our cat, we looked online and decided to go check it out. Key tip you need to fill out the form on their website before you are let inside. Honestly we were very anxious and unsure about the whole process. It was such a hot day and it is overwhelming in the building with lots of activity but we literally were blessed with the nicest and kindest staff, Jordan. He was so educated and gave lots of good advice, we looked around for a while and finally made a decision!!! Again Jordan walked us through the wholeeee process being so detailed and thorough nothing felt rushed. And boom we were able to take home boysenberry and got connected to extra resources + informational zoom meeting. We both have grown up with cats our whole life so this was a really big decision and we felt so happy/relieved as soon as we got home. 24 hours later boysenberry is happily exploring, purring, and playing. Cant thank u enough Jordan!!!!!!!

Very friendly staff a lovely experience for first time pet owners. The adoption process went smoothly and we received helpful advice and proper care instructions. Definitely would recommend to other pet seekers. You can tell the staff really cares about the animals in their care. We look forward to our little addition to the family. ❤️
